딸아이가 4월 말 예정일인데, 더 일찍 나올 수도 있어요! 그녀가 자라는 걸 (그리고 제 아내가 자라는 걸) 지켜보는 건 정말 놀라운 경험이에요. 앞서 말했듯이, 우리 아기는 큽니다. 의사에 따르면 현재 크기가 예정일보다 2주 더 앞섰고, 국제적으로 평균을 초과하는 체중이 예상돼요. 레슬링 준비가 되어 태어나길 바라고 있어요. 그렇지 않으면 제가 준비한 루차도르 마스크가 쓸모없어질 테니까요.

Life has been anything but slow lately! I think having a place to publicly organize my thoughts is worth my time. I haven’t been present here, but here’s a rundown of the projects and happenings that have kept me on my toes:
1. Migrating My Gallery
I’ve officially closed down my old site and have all the imagery stored safely on a drive. The plan is to manually arrange the gallery here, but I don’t want it to take center stage. Instead, I’ll likely nestle it within the blog section somewhere and maybe somewhere else but it’s not going on the front page.
2. Functional Art: The Vacuum Cleaner Transformation
I’ve been refurbishing an old canister vacuum cleaner. It’s becoming a bio-hazard-themed masterpiece (see pic). I rewired it, added a ground, and am replacing the flimsy plastic wheels with sturdy ones attached to a padded wooden base. Fingers crossed the padding helps with vibrations! It’s a bit of a mad experiment, but I haaaate my current vacuum and I’m hoping that this will function as its replacement and also look neat.
3. Expanding My Study Room
With more students coming in, I’m scaling up to make ends meet—especially with a baby on the way. Our future daughter is already measuring 2 weeks ahead of schedule (which in baby-time is insane), so I’m mentally preparing for a household that will likely consume whole sides of beef just to stay fed.
4. Visual Project Goals
This year’s challenge? Create 20 decent-sized paintings while adapting to fatherhood. Ambitious? Absolutely. But I’m already rolling and experimenting with mixed media to keep things fresh. I may have to rent some sort of storage space because I don’t work small and I’ve only got so much house. We’ll see how that works out.
5. Puzzle Project Revival
After a successful Facebook test run, I’m officially moving forward with a local puzzle project. If no one interacted I would have abandoned the project, but one dedicated participant solved my previous puzzle for a 100,000-won prize, proving there’s potential interest. The next puzzle will feature at least 12 interconnected parts, requiring sequential knowledge to complete. The prize? No less than 1,000,000 won, plus some extras. It’ll stay local to my corner of the island to keep things manageable.
6. Rebuilding My Art Supplies
I’ve started restocking acrylic paints and canvases. I had given away my old supplies—a decision I don’t regret but do feel the sting of now that I’m diving back into painting.
7. Closing My Wife’s School
We’re merging our practices! Students are coming in, and while my wife can’t teach right now, we’re converting our unused living room into her future classroom. It’s a big step but a promising one.
8. Thoughts on Blogging
Thinking about blogging isn’t quite the same as doing it, but here we are. Writing feels like an extension of painting—a way to express and share experiences. Even if nobody reads this now, it’s nice to document life in a meaningful way.
9. Storefront Plans
The store is moving to a drop-shipping model for automation. I have a few stickers on hand, but I’d rather focus on creating than managing inventory. The original idea was to utilize the store front as a showcase for art. I may set up t-shirt options too.
10. Stealth Camping Adventures
I’ve been scouting woods for stealth camping spots. I might even try building a dugout or lean-to and spending some nights outside in the wild. I hike off road quite a bit, but I haven’t used me hammock in so long I feel bad. It’s nice to have a “bug-out bag” but I only have it because I like camping.
11. Linux OS Migration
Another big reason I haven’t been updating the site at all is that I finally made the switch to a Linux-based OS. While I’m running dual-boot with Windows, I’m blown away by how much better Linux is. If game companies fully embrace Linux, Windows might be toast. As of right now, my favorite digital drawing program only runs on windows though. So I have a bare bones windows running and hopefully with a clear drive and a lot of dedicated memory I can get some really good usage out of that program.
12. Incoming Spawn
Our daughter is due in late April—if she doesn’t arrive early! Watching her grow (and watching my wife grow) has been surreal. As I said before, my unborn is big. The doctor said that our baby shouldn’t be the size that it currently is for two more weeks and her weight is projected to be above average on an international scale. I’m hoping she comes out of the womb ready to wrestle, otherwise these luchador masks I got for her are going to go to waste.

I’m optimistic about the future. I’ve spent my life making art and I’ve started making art my life. Everything I do can be a microcosm of creation and I don’t want to waste that time.
